CEO Dr. Ulrich Viethen elected to the Board of VDMA Electrical Automation

Dr. Ulrich Viethen, CEO of Murrelektronik, has been elected to the Board of the VDMA Electrical Automation Association. The election took place during the general meeting on June 16, 2026, in Bad Nauheim, Germany. The newly elected Board will serve for the 2026 to 2030 term.

With his election, Dr. Viethen will also contribute his many years of experience in the automation industry to the work of the VDMA Electrical Automation Board. The association represents more than 330 member companies and is regarded as an important platform at the interface between automation technology and mechanical and plant engineering.

The association’s work focuses on key topics that will shape industrial automation in the years ahead: digital networking, innovation, resilience and international competitiveness. These fields of action were also discussed intensively during the general meeting in Bad Nauheim. The event was complemented by expert presentations on the current situation in mechanical and plant engineering, economic developments, and humanoid robotics in combination with artificial intelligence.

Dr. Viethen has already been actively involved in industry association work for many years, including as a member of the ZVEI Board (Verband der Elektro- und Digitalindustrie). With his election to the VDMA Board, he now contributes his industry perspective to two leading associations representing the electrical and automation sectors.

In addition to Dr. Ulrich Viethen, the VDMA Electrical Automation Board for the 2026 to 2030 term includes further representatives from leading companies in the automation industry.
