Decentralized Automation in Intralogistics: A Look Back at LogiMAT 2026
Under the motto “Decentralized Automation – smart, efficient, robust,” Murrelektronik at LogiMAT 2026 demonstrated how intralogistics systems can be future-proofed by bringing automation to where it’s needed most: into the field. This shortens power and signal paths, creates a clearer system architecture, and enables installations that are faster to assemble, easier to expand, and reliable to operate.
What this looks like in practice was illustrated through typical intralogistics applications: conveying & sorting, scan tunnels and vision, stacker cranes, shuttles, and pick-and-palletizing stations. The common denominator: less complexity, modular machine and line concepts, and connectivity that doesn’t limit system design but scales with requirements.
The approach was also demonstrated in a live setup featuring the montrac® shuttle system from montratec: flexible conveying technology combined with decentralized automation—delivering tangible effects such as shorter installation times, simplified troubleshooting, and a space-saving system concept where scaling becomes a straightforward next step rather than a major rebuild.
